Earth hour cafe

In 26-28 of March 2015 the Project opened its office for the public who were treated to organic coffee in exchange for an environmental promise. With the help of borrowed furniture from Umeå municipality's Return Store, Be Green Umeå's office was transformed into a cafe.
Many of Umeå's residents visited the cafe, leaving environmental promises and shared their knowledge and experience. After three days the promise tree was full of green leaves. On the leaves could for example a promise to reduce meat consumption be read.

The event is held annually to mark Earth Hour which is the world's largest environmental manifestation when millions of people around the world show their commitment to the environment and the climate change by turning off their lights for one hour, 20:30 to 21:30 local time.

The turning off the lights is a symbolic action that sends an important signal to those in power to take climate change seriously.
