One key factor in this project is to find new means of
communication, new models and techniques, that helps the
municipality to implement its work with sustainable urban
development among the citizens.
In order to spread the message and raise the awareness of
sustainable behaviour, we want to carry out and test a number of
campaigns, competitions, exhibitions and "road shows" to reach and
involve a broader group of the urban region.
Many studies have shown that a majority of the people in Europe
are aware of the problems with climate change, but many of them are
not acting to make a change.´
For that reason this action is focusing on engaging and
stimulating people in general in a society to act environmentally
friendly in a new innovative way by giving them other motivations
factors that may be higher on their agenda than for example climate
change. The aim is to involve the citizens and bring them to
sustainable behaviour by their own will.
This actions aims to produce a mobile meeting centre for communication of sustainable living and demonstrating clean tech solutions. With this unique mobile unit information and communicating efforts are placed in a context where people are already gathering, for example a fair, workplace, residential area or at a schoolyard. By doing this it will be easier to connect with people (citizens and visitors) that are not already environmental enthusiasts.

A meeting and travel policy is taking shape for Umeå Region municipalities. Representatives from each municipality has in recent months been working to develop a joint meeting and travel policy, a labor which, among other things has resulted in several travelfree meetings in Adobe Connect. The goal is to write a joint policy that is the same for all municipalities, the policy is followed by a checklist and guidelines that may vary from municipality to municipality.
