Joint Commuting

A service will be developed, based on a project from the Umea Institute of Design, that support not just planned joint commuting and joint taxi rides, but also spontaneous joint car- and taxi rides as a fully adequate complement to existing public transport. The development is concentrated around IT-services, connected to mobile services, SMS and GPS.

Test travellers in Umeå

The activity Test traveler has been implemented several times before in Umeå and is one of the examples of how to get people to test a sustainable transport. The purpose of the activity is to encourage motorists to morefrequently use bus transportation to and from work. Motorists are able to apply as test traveler and those who are accepted will receive a monthly pass for the bus. In exchange for leaving the car at home at least 3 days per week.

The Activity Test traveler has been launched several times before in Umeå and is one of the examples of how to get citizens to test a sustainable transport. The purpose of the activity is to encourage motorists to more frequently use the train as transportation to and from work.

Mobility Management during road works

In the case of upgrading the Kolbäck trail there were serious disturbances in the cartraffic. One step to alleviatethem is to work with solutions that will improve road access and accessibility.

Test Travelers in the Umeåregion

The Umeå region consists of six municipalities. Apart from Umeå are Bjuholm, Nordmaling, Robertsfors, Vindeln and Vännäs. Between the municipalities large parts of the residents commute to and from work.
